Why Are We Comfortable in Sin?
Mathew 6:24 · NIV
Why are we so comfortable picking and choosing which parts of the Bible we want to obey?
We love the verses that tell us God has a purpose for our lives. We love “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”We hold on to His promises, His love, His blessings, and the assurance that when we seek Him, we will find Him.
But what happens when His Word confronts us? What about sex before marriage, sexual immorality, pornography, gossiping, lying, pride, ego, impatience, and anger? What about the music we listen to and the things we allow to influence our hearts? What about lacking the fruits of the Spirit but excusing ourselves by saying, “This is just who I am. This is how I am, and I will not change”?
Since when did our personalities become an excuse for disobedience?
Why do we want God to strengthen us in pursuing our dreams, but struggle to believe He can strengthen us to overcome our flesh? Why do we embrace His promises but resist His instructions?
There is a difference between struggling with sin and becoming comfortable in it. Struggling means acknowledging that something needs to change, repenting, seeking God's help, and continuing to pursue obedience, even when we fall. Being comfortable in sin means knowing what God asks of us but deliberately choosing our desires over His instructions.
This does not mean we will become perfect overnight. God's grace meets us in our struggles, and we should never condemn ourselves or others for fighting battles that are difficult to overcome. But we must be careful not to use grace as an excuse to remain unchanged.
Matthew 6:24 reminds us that we cannot serve two masters. We cannot claim to surrender our lives to Christ while deciding that certain parts of His Word are optional whenever they make us uncomfortable.
Following Jesus is not about choosing the scriptures that make us feel good and ignoring the ones that require us to change. It is about allowing Him to transform our hearts, our habits, our attitudes, and our behaviour.

Scripture
No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.

Walk blindly
Let it go. Surrender it to God. Let Him steer the ship. Leave it at the alter. Lose control. You are not of your own.

Let faith arise, and doubt be scattered.
Who told you that you were not good enough? Who told you that you were unworthy, broken, imperfect, or beyond redemption? Who told you that your struggles define you and your past disqualifies you?
Who told you that?
Because it was never God who told you that you were worthless. Sometimes, we entertain the whispers of doubt, unbelief and condemnation until we begin to question our identity and believe things about ourselves that God never said.
The enemy wants you to doubt who you are, but the Word reminds us that we were created in the image of God. This is why we must put on the full armour of God, guarding our minds with salvation, standing firm in faith, and holding on to the truth of His Word

Pray
It’s currently 3 a.m. as I’m writing this, and I have just finished praying. I woke up from my sleep with a nudge to pray, and I did. And it got me thinking, if God ever nudges you to pray at odd hours, get up and pray. Even when you don’t know what you’re praying for, pray.
Ephesians 6:12 reminds us that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities and spiritual forces of darkness. This means that not every battle is visible to the human eye. You may not know what you are praying against, and you may never know, but you can still stand in prayer. The enemy is always seeking to lead people astray, and prayer is one of the ways we stand firm in faith.
So, when the Lord nudges you to pray, don’t ignore it. Get up and pray. Obey, even when you don’t understand. Sometimes, you don’t need to know why you are praying. You just need to pray.

Hold your thoughts captive.
I haven’t been here for a while. Not because I chose to be absent, but because when you are battling with your own mind, even finding your way back to the feet of Jesus at the altar can become difficult.
Surrendering what you have been holding onto means relinquishing control. It means having faith in the unknown and choosing to believe what the Father says about you over what the enemy whispers to you. It means trusting God even when your thoughts, emotions and circumstances make it difficult to see Him clearly.
Guard your heart. Let the Lord occupy your thoughts. Do not allow anything or anyone to take the place that belongs to God alone on the altar of your heart.
Sometimes, surrender is not about having everything figured out. It is about returning to Him, even when you are still trying to find your way.

The Fight Is Not Of Flesh And Blood
We need to understand that the weapons that we need to conquer our battles/ trials and tribulations are in God and his word. We cannot depend on our own might to fight against the forces that are against us.
Paul goes further to tell us that we need to put on The Armor of God. Unfortunately 😅we cannot physically put it on by the word verse 18, emphasises that we must do all this in prayer, asking the Father to help us because we cannot fight on our own. We cannot physically put the Armor on but we can pray and ask our Father to clothe us with it. A devotion the other day shared with us, on how much more will he clothe us as his children. It is time we clothe ourselves, with his help with the Armor of God, in order to conquer our battles.
I understand that many of our challenges, tend to leave us weak, disappointed, discouraged, frustrated, some even last longer than we anticipated but with this word, I am testifying that our battles will never leave us helpless. Our Father has given us the weapons to fight, we just need to take them and use them - through prayer.
