Is your lamp filled with oil?

Revelation 2-3 (The seven churches)

As children of the living God, we can testify of all the good things He has done in our lives. We can speak of how, just like the Israelites, He brought us out of the wilderness. We can speak of the refining He has done in us through the fire, and of learning to keep our eyes fixed on Him in the midst of the storm. We can speak of finding joy in suffering, peace in the midst of chaos, and the peace that surpasses all understanding. But the question is, how are we living our daily lives? This is not to say that we are not bound to sin, because we are human and were born into a sinful nature. But as disciples of Christ, we are called to pick up our cross daily and walk with Him. As we live in these last days, we are reminded to prepare, because the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. So, is our lamp full? Is there oil? When we look at Revelation 2–3, we see different spiritual conditions. People who are faithful, people who have become lukewarm, people who have compromised, and people who have grown distant from God. And it makes me ask, am I fighting against sin, or have I become comfortable with it? Am I fleeing from what God tells me to flee from, or am I making room for the things of this world? Am I carrying my cross? Am I praying? Am I making time for Jesus? Because as much as we can open our mouths and speak about Christ, as much as we can point to all the things He has done for us, does the life we live testify of Him? When people look at us, do they see God in us, or do they see someone who has become comfortable with the world?
