Luke 5:4-11
He breaks you in order to make you.

Jesus gave out an instruction to the fishermen to go into the deep waters and let down the nets for a catch however, Simon was discouraged by the fact that they had been up all night fishing and yet caught nothing. Because of his faith in Christ he went ahead and let down the nets. To his surprise they caught a lot more than they expected. The deep water represents going beyond what is comfortable and familiar. Sometimes God calls us into places where we can’t rely entirely on what we already know. You may feel like you’re in “deep water” right now. Uncertain about your career, your future, relationships, finances, or what comes next. But deep water isn’t necessarily where God has abandoned you. Sometimes it’s exactly where He is asking you to trust Him more deeply.
Luke 5:4–11 teaches us that when Jesus calls us to trust and obey Him even when based on our experiences things have not worked out. He can turn an empty net into an overflowing one, and an ordinary life into a life of purpose.
A prayer for today
My prayer is that we all receive the strength to try again. Just because the night was frustrating let us go back to the deep for a catch because what we will receive will be a lot more than what we lost. May we continue clinging onto God’s promises.
